Canine Dine and Robot Rewind

For most students, it’s hard to change projects in the middle of a thought process, but focus had to change fast for the 4980 Canine Crusaders. The annual Canine Dine dinner auction is the biggest fundraiser of the year. This auction is when the community comes together and helps 4980 reach our minimum goal of $15,000. This year the auction raised $15,678.50, giving the team a significant step into this year's build and competition season.

After a stressful night, one thing everyone could use is a long night's rest. That wasn’t the case for the Canine Crusaders, though. The following morning the team left for Robot Rewind at 6:30. Robot Rewind is a post-season competition of the previous season's game hosted by West Valley High School's team 4167, Chuck. The Canine Crusaders see Robot Rewind as a valuable opportunity for new students to learn how the competitions work. We believe it’s important to give these new students an idea of the culture and process of competitions. Veteran team members mentored new students throughout the day. It was a day of highs and lows, good and bad luck, mistakes and hard work. It paid off in the end when one of our robots was on the winning three-team alliance with 1595 St. George's Dragons and 2147 Chuck.
